What If the Light-Day Became an Alibi?
NASA is counting down to Voyager One reaching one light-day from Earth. What if a wholly separate, invented listening consortium used a public rehearsal to make itself the voice of humanity? An ordinary equipment fault puts an engineer against a committee whose two prepared statements both protect its position. The room, people and plot are fictional; no real interference with Voyager or alien signal is alleged.
